Eminent economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya has emphasized the need for reforms alongside ensuring public comfort before heading towards elections.
He stated: "Reforms are a big dream, but people must be provided with relief first. Do not mislead reform-oriented individuals."
Dr Debapriya made these remarks on Friday during a national dialogue titled “Which Path for Unity” at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Dhaka.
He further added: “In striving for the best, I must not lose the good. I aspire to reach the highest level, but if I fail to address the current problems, I will not achieve that position.”
Friday marked the first day of the two-day dialogue on unity, reform and elections, organized by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies.
The event was inaugurated virtually by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.
