Five bodies have been recovered from a ship docked on the Meghna River in Chandpur, with fears that the death toll may rise.
The discovery was reported around 2pm on Monday.
Local residents suspect that the incident may be linked to a robbery on the vessel. However, law enforcement authorities have yet to release an official statement. The Coast Guard and police are on their way to the scene for further investigation.
The ship, identified as MV Al-Bakhera, was reportedly anchored at the time of the incident.
