The Panama-flagged ship MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan has entered Bangladeshi waters for the second time, carrying consumer goods, industrial raw materials, and other items.
The vessel travelled via Karachi, Pakistan, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The ship reached Bangladeshi waters around 5pm on Friday and is expected to arrive at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday, according to Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruk.
The ship is scheduled to dock at the port’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) jetty around 2pm on Sunday, where unloading will begin.
Dubai-based Feeder Lines DMCC operates the vessel on the Dubai-Karachi-Chittagong-Malaysia-Indonesia-India-Dubai route.
Regency Lines Limited serves as the vessel's Bangladeshi agent.
The ship had previously docked in Chittagong on November 11, marking its inaugural trip to Bangladesh.
Ismail Ahmed, operations manager of Regency Lines Limited, said: “MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan is carrying 997 containers this time. Out of these, 780 containers will be unloaded at Chittagong Port, comprising 126 containers from Jebel Ali Port in Dubai and 678 containers from Karachi.”
He added: “Once the containers are released, the ship is expected to leave Chittagong Port on December 23.”
The shipment includes sugar, soda ash, denim fabrics, yarn, dolomite lumps, natural dolomite, dried fish, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), potatoes, radiator cores, and other goods.
During the ship’s first visit on November 11, it carried 370 containers, of which 328 were unloaded at Chittagong Port.
The majority of the cargo on that trip consisted of raw materials for textile and glass industries, along with items like onions, potatoes, car parts, limestone, soda ash, magnesium carbonate, and dolomite.
Prominent Bangladeshi importers, including Akiz Glass Factory, Pacific Jeans, Square Pharmaceuticals, Nasir Glass, X Ceramics, Hafiz Corporation, and MR Trading, received the goods in both shipments.
