The National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar is gearing up to honour the nation's heroes on the upcoming Victory Day, with final preparations underway.

Over the last month, extensive beautification and maintenance efforts have been conducted to ensure the site is ready for millions of visitors set to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

The tribute ceremony will begin on the morning of Monday (December 16) with wreath-laying by the president and the chief adviser of the government.

Following this, the gates will be opened to the public, allowing citizens to pay their respects.

The Department of Public Works, responsible for the maintenance of the memorial, has been working diligently to enhance the site.

Workers have repainted roadways, trimmed plants, and added new flowering plants along the paths leading to the altar.

The streetlights, fences, and other structures have also been renovated, creating a clean and dignified environment.

On Saturday, workers were seen washing the various roads of the memorial square, planting new flower saplings, and repainting light poles and road dividers.

Security measures are also in place, with public entry temporarily restricted until December 15 for safety purposes.

Visitors gathered outside the gate on Saturday, admiring the memorial from a distance.

The Dhaka-Aricha highway near the memorial has received a facelift as well, with new streetlights installed and the dust removed from the road.

We’ve worked tirelessly to prepare the memorial for this significant day."
