The interim government has decided to include e-cigarettes and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) in the list of prohibited items under the Import Policy Order. The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council held on Thursday.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Adviser’s Office, was followed by a press release from the Cabinet Division outlining the key decisions.
The initiative to ban the import of e-cigarettes was led by the Health Services Division, which emphasised the urgent need for such measures to safeguard public health and protect future generations from the harmful effects of ENDS-related products.
The council also discussed the draft of the "Cyber Security Ordinance, 2024". It was decided that the draft would be resubmitted for final approval after further review.
Additionally, the Advisory Council congratulated the Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team for their victory in the Asia Cup, extending appreciation to the team and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The council expressed optimism that Bangladesh would achieve even greater success in the future, bringing pride to the nation.
