The BNP’s three wings - Jubo Dal, Swecchasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal - will jointly organize a protest march towards the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Sunday, in response to the attack on Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
A memorandum will also be submitted during the march.
This announcement was made in a press release signed by Chhatra Dal Office Secretary Jahangir Alam on Saturday.
According to the statement, the protest march will begin at 10am from the BNP Central Office in Naya Paltan and proceed towards the Indian Embassy.
Leaders of Jubo Dal, Swecchasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal have instructed members at all levels to participate in the program on time.
Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna told Dhaka Tribune: "We want the kind of good relations with neighboring countries that are necessary, and we aim for such a relationship with India. An attack on Bangladesh's High Commission in India is equivalent to an attack on Bangladesh. We demand justice for those involved in this attack. Therefore, tomorrow (Sunday) we will march toward the Indian High Commission and subsequently submit a memorandum to them."
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir told Dhaka Tribune: "We will march toward the Indian High Commission at 10am. Through this march, we will protest against the attacks on the High Commission in Agartala, the desecration of the flag, and the assault on the High Commission in Kolkata. I urge leaders and activists to participate peacefully in the program."
The Hindu Sangarsha Samiti on December 2 vandalized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, with the Bangladesh national flag taken down and set on fire, in protest against the arrest of the Sommilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote’s spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das.
Videos from the incident show protesters tearing down the Bangladesh national flag and setting it ablaze.
Dhaka deeply resents the violent attack, the vandalization of the mission premises, and the desecration of the national flag.
