Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has urged everyone to remain calm in light of the recent unpleasant incidents in various educational institutions, including in Chittagong.
"Chief adviser emphasized the importance of national unity for the stability of the country."
This appeal was made during a meeting with a delegation from the BNP at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday evening.
After the meeting, the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, informed journalists that the Chief Adviser had spoken about the need for national unity for stability in the country.
He called for unity among Hindus, Muslims, students, workers, and the general public.
Dr Yunus urged everyone to stay calm.
Regarding the news report published by Reuters with wrong information, he said that the necessary actions had been taken on the matter.
He also mentioned that regarding the issue in Chittagong, he had asked everyone to remain calm.
He noted that 33 people had been arrested, six of whom were directly involved in the attack, while 21 others had obstructed police work and engaged in clashes.
He also mentioned that six members of the Awami League and Chhatra League were involved in the attack, including the use of crude bombs.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, a 5-member BNP delegation met with the Chief Adviser.
The delegation was led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, with other members including BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Salauddin Ahmed. Interim Government advisors Adidul Rahman Khan, Hasan Arif, and Mahfuz Alam were also present at the meeting.
