July uprising injured Babu sent to Thailand for advanced treatment

Mohammad Babu, 36, who was severely injured during the student-mass uprising that led to the ousting of Sheikh Hasina and ended her 16-year autocratic rule, was sent to Vegthani Hospital in Thailand for advanced treatment.

A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying Babu departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health.

Prof Dr Md Abu Jafar, Director General of the Health Directorate, saw him off at the airport.

Speaking to the media, the DG said that the government is doing everything possible to treat the critically injured individuals from the July-August uprising.

He added that more critically injured individuals will be sent abroad soon for further treatment.
