The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has announced that all single-band routers will be banned starting April 1, 2025.
Currently, the Bangladeshi market offers a variety of routers, including single, dual, and tri-band models, with consumers choosing based on brand, model, and performance.
However, the BTRC has determined that dual-band and tri-band routers are significantly more efficient and effective than single-band models, leading to this decision.
The notification specifies that from next year, only routers supporting dual or tri-band frequencies will be allowed for import and local production.
All Wi-Fi routers sold in Bangladesh must support both the 2.4–2.483 GHz and 5.725–5.875 GHz frequency bands.
Routers supporting only one of these frequency bands will no longer be permitted for sale.
This move aims to stop the import and production of low-quality, single-band routers, improve internet quality, and ensure high-speed data transfer for users.
