Govt strips 118 more journos of accreditation

The interim government has revoked both permanent and temporary press accreditation cards for 118 journalists, including editors, reporters, and chief executives of TV stations.

This brings the total number of journalists stripped of accreditation by the interim government to 167.

Among them, Dhaka Tribune’s Special Correspondent Nurul Islam Hasib and Chief Reporter Ali Asif Shawon are also included. 

The latest cancellation order, issued on November 7, was signed by Md Nizamul Kabir, chief information officer of the Press Information Department (PID) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The notice states that the revocation was carried out under several provisions of the Press Accreditation Policy-2022. 

Press accreditation cards are required for access to the Secretariat.
