Thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters have begun gathering at Naya Paltan ahead of a major procession marking the “National Revolution and Solidarity Day.”
The rally, a large-scale event that BNP is organizing after a significant gap, is set to begin at 2:30pm on Friday in front of BNP’s central office.
Crowds from Dhaka and nearby districts like Manikganj, Narsingdi, Gazipur, and Narayanganj have started pouring in, waving banners and holding large portraits of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
In preparation, BNP has arranged pickup vans, horse-drawn carriages, and ambulances for any emergency needs.
To accommodate the crowd, roads around Naya Paltan, Kakrail, Fakirapul, and Matsya Bhaban have been temporarily closed, causing minor traffic congestion.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to inaugurate the rally with a speech, while Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will deliver a virtual closing address once the procession reaches Manik Mia Avenue.
BNP observes November 7 as "National Revolution and Solidarity Day," and has planned a series of events over the next ten days, including discussions and rallies, to commemorate the occasion.
