The Turkish government will provide free medical care in Turkey for seven Bangladeshis injured in the July uprising.
This decision was made in response to a request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for advanced medical treatment for those injured during the anti-discrimination student movement.
After the current interim government took office, the foreign ministry said Bangladesh requested advanced medical care for the injured during a meeting between Foreign Adviser Ambassador Md Touhid Hossain and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md Jashim Uddin with the Turkish ambassador.
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus also had a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on August 27.
He expressed interest in cooperating with the interim government's reform efforts.
In this context, a Turkish government delegation visited Bangladesh from October 13 to 15 when both sides discussed about potential cooperation in various sectors.
