The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday arrested former youth and sports minister Nazmul Hassan Papon’s personal secretary and another individual for their alleged involvement in attacking students during the July-August uprising.
The arrestees have been identified as Papon’s personal secretary Sakhawat Molla, 52, and A Hakim Raihan, 52.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s Dhanmondi in a joint operation conducted by RAB-14 and RAB-1.
Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous, director of the RAB’s legal and media wing, confirmed the matter.
On July 19, during a rally in Bhairab, Kishoreganj, attackers targeted students and civilians, injuring several people.
Following the attack, three victims filed separate cases with Bhairab police station naming multiple people including Molla and Raihan.
