Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, a non-governmental organization, has said that at least 126 women and 74 girls were tortured across the country in October.
Over 200 girls and women were tortured. Of them, at least 44, including 14 girls, were raped, the rights organization said in a statement on Thursday.
Of the rape victims, eight, including two girls, were also gang-raped, and one of the girls was also killed after torture. Moreover, nine, including seven girls, fell victim to rape attempts.
Also, nine persons, including seven girls, were molested, while four others, including two girls, were subjected to sexual harassment.
The rights body said three women were subjected to acid attacks, and two of them succumbed to their injuries.
It also mentioned that six women were subjected to torture over dowry, and four of them were killed in the process.
Throughout the month, there were ten incidents of physical torture, which included one girl, according to the statement.
Apart from this, 50 people, including four girls, were killed over various issues. Two others were subjected to attempted murder as well, the statement said.
Of them, at least 18, including five girls, died in mysterious ways, according to news reports.
Meanwhile, 14 others, including five girls, committed suicide in October.
Additionally, six, including four girls, were also kidnapped at the same time, the statement further read.
The rights organization said that newspapers reported at least four incidents of child marriage in October. There were two more such attempts at the same time.
Moreover, two women fell victim to cybercrime, while 12 others were tortured in various ways.
