Former election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed detained in Chittagong

Former election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed has been detained.

He was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon from the Kotwali Thana area of Chittagong, supposedly in connection with a murder case.

Before his retirement, Helaluddin served as the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government.

Prior to that, he held the position of secretary of the election commission. After his retirement, he was appointed as a member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) during the tenure of the Awami League government.

He is currently in the custody of Kotwali Police Station, and will be transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
