Protesters attempt to besiege Bangabhaban demanding removal of President

Protesters gathered in front of Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon demanding the resignation of President Mohammed Sahabuddin.

At around 8:20pm, a group of protesters attempted to break through the barricades to enter Bangabhaban.

The army tried to control the situation, and sound grenades were used to disperse the protesters, causing them to scatter.

However, reports indicate that the protesters are regrouping and continue to demand the immediate resignation of the president while trying to enter Bangabhaban.

Among the protesters, Tarique Rahman of the Gono Odhikar Parishad was seen, along with around 1,200 participants.

To maintain order, a police van arrived at around 8:40pm.

However, the demonstrators shouted "Bhua, bhua (Fake, fake)" slogans and sent the police inside Bangabhaban.

Currently, army personnel are stationed there.

At around 8:45pm, a water cannon arrived to manage the situation but had to retreat toward the Dainik Bangla intersection due to the protests.

Earlier, around 5:30pm, the protesters blocked the roadside and chanted various slogans against the President.

They occupied positions in front of Bangabhaban with banners and protested separately.

Various platforms like Inqilab Mancha, Roktim July-24, 36 July Parishad, Ziaur Rahman Samaj Kalyan Parishad, and Anti-Fascist Student-Youth Mancha were seen demonstrating.

Around 2pm, the protesters gathered in front of the main gate of Bangabhaban and started their demonstration, demanding the resignation of the President.

In response, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) tightened security in and around Bangabhaban.
