The age limit for the entry of government jobs will likely to be increased as the review committee formed for the recommendation of the maximum age limit for joining public services has submitted its report to the government.
It has recommended an age limit of 35 years for male and 37 years for female jobseekers.
The review committee, led by Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, head of the Public Administration Reform Commission, made the recommendation, according to sources.
On September 30, a committee was formed to review the age limit for government job entry, headed by former secretary Abdul Mueed Chowdhury.
They submitted their recommendations to the government a week later.
The proposal states that the maximum age for men to apply for government jobs will be 35 years, while for women it will be 37 years.
The review committee took into account the country's education system, exam formats, and employment opportunities.
A final decision is likely to be made at a meeting of the advisory council.
However, the committee has recommended that the retirement age remain at 59 years.
The demand to increase the age limit for government job entry has been ongoing for nearly a decade, with various movements held on the streets over this issue. Currently, the age limit for entering government jobs is 30 years, while it is 32 years for the children of freedom fighters.
