TSC's fund collection: 8C to be handed over to Relief Ministry

Students Against Discrimination has decided to handover Tk8 crore to Relief Ministry and expend Tk1.91 crore for the flood affected people in North Bengal.

The platform hired an audit firm to manage their fund collection.

They disclosed these information at a press briefing held at TSC auditorium.

In addition, they also disclose their account on fund collection.

According to the audit provided by them, the organization received a total of Tk116,984,420, primarily from cash donations.

Expenses were incurred for relief efforts, donations to other organizations, operational costs, and volunteer expenses, totaling Tk17,833,207. As of now, there is a balance of Tk99,151,213 in the organization's bank accounts.

Golam Fazlul Kabir, the auditor of the anti-discrimination student movement and a partner of PKF Aziz Halim Khair Chowdhury chartered accountant firm, have announced the audit.

"We were asked to conduct an audit on September 10, which we completed on September 30. In total, it took us 20 days. The coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement had personally withdrawn money for specific needs and later transferred it to a personal account," stated Golam Fazlul Kabir.

"Additionally, we had to count Tk200,000 in coins. Then, there were revenues from selling scrap and gold, which were added later. Due to the need for transparency in income and expenditure, the accounting process took longer than usual," he added.

"There is a balance of Tk9.91 crore in the bank account of the anti-discrimination student movement. Of this amount, it has been decided to hand over Tk8 crore to the Disaster Management Ministry. We will transfer this amount to the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry tomorrow", stated Lutfor Rahman, a co-ordinator of the “Students Against Discrimination”.

"A decision has been made to hand over Tk1.91 crore to local voluntary organizations and the local administration in response to the recent floods in North Bengal," he added.

It should be noted that Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Abu Baker Majumdar, Lutfor Rahman, and many others, who were the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, were present during this time.
