A committee formed to investigate a scuffle at the Secretariat over the appointment of District Commissioners (DCs) has recommended punishment for 17 officials.
This information was shared by Dr Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry.
He made the announcement during a briefing held in the conference room of the Public Administration Ministry at the Secretariat on Monday.
The interim government appointed new Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in 59 districts over two days, on September 9, 10.
A group of aggrieved deputy secretaries, feeling excluded from these appointments caused a commotion in protest.
The incident occurred at the office of Joint Secretary KM Ali Azam of the Ministry of Public Administration on September 10, where the officials shouted slogans, engaged in pushing, and exhibited unruly behavior.
Sources indicate that these officials were previously denied promotions during the tenure of the last Awami League government.
