Bangladeshi expatriates in Lebanon urged to seek shelter amid escalating conflict

Bangladesh Ambassador to Lebanon Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanvir Khan has urged Bangladeshi expatriates in Lebanon seeking safety to contact the Bangladesh Embassy's helpline and hotline in Beirut.

He also called on expatriates to stay in safe locations amid the escalating situation in Lebanon.

In a video message on Saturday night the ambassador provided various instructions for the expatriates.

"We are continuously updating senior authorities in Dhaka about the developing situation in Lebanon," he said.

"Please prioritize your safety and remain where you are. If you face any issues, inform us, and we will do our best to assist you promptly." He also advised everyone to avoid spreading or believing rumors during this time of war.

Javed Tanvir further said: "For those of you who have moved to safer locations from your workplace or residence, we are gathering information and actively working to provide assistance through the embassy. If you're still searching for a safe place, please reach out to our helpline and hotline immediately. We will do everything we can to ensure you reach a secure location."

"In the midst of this ongoing conflict, the safety of lives remains our top priority," he stressed. "The law-and-order situation in several areas of Beirut has deteriorated, with incidents of open gunfire, road closures, and vehicle vandalism. Given these circumstances, I urge all expatriates to remain in safe areas."

For urgent assistance, expatriates can contact the embassy's front desk at 71217139, hotline at 70635278, helpline at 81744207, or via email at beirut.mission@mofa.gov.bd.

On Saturday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an ongoing Israeli attack in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
