The price of gold in the country has surged again, setting a new record.
The revised prices will come into effect on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat gold (11.664 grams), considered the highest quality, has increased by Tk2,612, reaching a new high of Tk135,663 per bhori (11.664 grams). This marks the highest price for gold in Bangladesh’s market to date.
This information was announced in a circular signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus), on Tuesday.
The circular mentioned that the price hike is due to an increase in the cost of acid gold in the local market. Bajus, considering the overall market situation, has set the new gold prices, which will take effect on Wednesday.
Bajus had previously raised gold prices on September 22, pushing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk133,051, which was the previous record high.
As per the new Bajus rates, the price of 21-carat gold has gone up by Tk2,507. Starting Wednesday, 21-carat gold will be priced at Tk129,505, compared to Tuesday's price of Tk126,998.
Additionally, the price of 18-carat gold has increased by Tk2,134, bringing the new price to Tk110,994 from Wednesday. Previously, it was sold for Tk108,860.
Traditional gold has also seen a rise, increasing by Tk1,819, and will be sold at Tk91,037, up from Tk89,218.
While gold prices have increased, silver prices remain unchanged.
Currently, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk2,100 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk2,006, 18-carat silver at Tk1,715, and traditional silver at Tk1,283 per bhori.
