Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment said remittance senders will receive VIP services when they arrive at Bangladeshi airports.
He made the comments during a briefing on current issues at the conference room of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment on Tuesday.
“Service quality at our airports has already improved,” he stated during the briefing.
“We are introducing a new service that will provide VIP treatment for returning remittance workers, excluding lounge access.”
He elaborated on the support that VIPs receive at airports, mentioning that they have assistance with luggage, check-in, and immigration processes.
“Initially, we are targeting workers returning from the Middle East, with plans to extend this to European workers later,” he added.
The adviser emphasized that in the next two weeks to a month, efforts will be made to alleviate the helplessness faced by returning workers.
He also announced the establishment of a dedicated expatriate welfare desk to guide workers through entry procedures, check-in, and immigration documentation.
“If necessary, we will hire new staff through outsourcing and provide training,” he noted, assuring that these changes would be implemented within a month.
He concluded with a firm commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against harassment or humiliation of expatriates at airports, stating: “We will ensure that this is upheld.”
