A complaint has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of involvement in enforced disappearances.
Simultaneously, an investigation has been requested into all enforced disappearances that occurred during the 15 years of the Awami League government.
The complaint was filed on Monday at the International Crimes Tribunal.
The complaint was lodged by one businessman Enamul Kabir. He was a victim of enforced disappearance for 10 days in 2018.
Later, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam informed journalists that businessman Enamul Kabir was allegedly picked up by individuals identifying themselves as Detective Branch (DB) officers from Basabo on November 17, 2018, under the orders of then-DB officer Moshiur.
Kabir was blindfolded and had his hands and feet tied. He was hung using a stick placed between his hands and legs and was tortured to extract information about opposition groups, particularly Jamaat-e-Islami, he added.
Later, a case was filed against him on November 26, accusing him of having explosives in his office. After serving time in jail, he was granted bail. In the complaint, Enamul has named 25 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, the chief prosecutor added.
Enamul Kabir told journalists: "I am a member of Jamaat-e-Islami, and that is why I was subjected to torture."
