Death row convict who escaped from Kashimpur jail arrested in Moulvibazar

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a death row convict who escaped from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail from Moulvibazar Sadar.

The arrest was confirmed through a press release issued on Sunday by RAB Sylhet media officer and Assistant Superintendent of Police Mashiur Rahman Sohel.

The arrested individual, Idris Mia, hails from Chhatakchhora village in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar and is the son of the late Ismail Mia.

According to RAB official Mashiur Rahman Sohel, a team from RAB-9, CPC-2 of Srimangal Company, conducted an operation on Saturday night around 9pm and successfully apprehended Idris Mia.

On August 6, at around 8:45am, Idris Mia, along with several other inmates, created chaos inside the prison and managed to escape from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur’s Konabari area.
