Launch services suspended between Dhaka, coastal areas

Launch services of Dhaka with coastal areas have been suspended due to inclement weather.

Additionally, small launch services within coastal areas have also been halted.

This decision has been made by the government due to adverse weather conditions.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) issued a special warning stating this information.

It mentioned that due to the ongoing severe weather across the country, the 2nd alert signal in inland waterways, and the 3rd local warning signal in seaports, launch services between Dhaka and several coastal regions have been suspended for safety reasons.

The specific routes affected include Dhaka to Hatia and Betuya, Betuya to Hatia, Dhaka to Khepupura, and Khepupura to Dhaka.

Additionally, launch and sea-truck services have been suspended from various river ports including Narayanganj to Munshiganj and Matlab, Barisal to Ulania, Barisal Kaliganj, Barisal Kacharikhal, and from Bhola to Ilisha-Moju Chowdhury Hat, Alexander-Hakim Uddin routes, and from Monpura to Tajumuddin routes.

In Patuakhali, river ports have suspended services on routes including Galachipa-Charmonai, Galachipa-Chorbestin, Galachipa-Lakshmichar, Ulania-Charmonai, and Chiknikandi-Charmonai, as well as speedboat services on the Boalia-Koralai route.

In Chittagong, services have been suspended on the Kumiara-Guptachhara, Banshkhali-Kutubdia, Pekuya-Kutubdia, Cox's Bazar-Maheshkhali, Teknaf-Saint Martin, Noakhali-Hatia, and Chittagong-Hatia routes.

Furthermore, all types of vessels on the Aricha-Paturia-Kazirhat route have been suspended, and necessary measures have been taken. Services on other significant routes, such as Ashuganj-Vaipur Bazar, have also been suspended due to severe weather until further notice. BIWTA has stated that they are continuously monitoring the situation.
