Hasina sued in another ICT case

A case was filed on Monday in Chittagong’s Cyber Tribunal Court against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and fourteen other individuals including former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and former state minister for information Md Ali Arafat.

Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, public prosecutor for the tribunal, confirmed that the case was filed by Nur Mohammad on Monday (September 9) before Judge Zahirul Kabir Chowdhury.

The plaintiff, Nur Mohammad, is a resident of Safiyabad in Feni district, and owns two online businesses: “Duranta Supplier” and “Duranta Bazar”.

His case alleges that his daily business transactions of Tk20 lakh were completely halted after Sheikh Hasina’s decision to obstruct internet and broadband services on July 18, leading to delays and disruptions that caused losses of around Tk1 crore.

Naushed Ali, the plaintiff’s lawyer, said: "The case accuses the former prime minister, state ministers, and others of damaging state and public property. The court has accepted the case, and the Cyber Crime Unit of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has been instructed to investigate."
