Revolution 2024: Injured students seek 1C in compensation for families

The students who injured during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement protests have made a list of five requests including providing their families with a one-time payment of Tk1 crore.

They have asked for advanced medical treatment arrangements.

The students have requested to publish a complete list of the deceased and honouring them as martyrs.

Md Salman Hossain of Government Titumir College made the demand on behalf of the injured at a press conference at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) on Wednesday.

“Of the injured, at least 100 are still receiving treatment at NITOR,” Salman said.

“They require advanced treatment, with some of them needing long-term care. The government should take notice of their needs.”

The government had previously announced that those who were injured during the violence would receive free treatment. But many patients in critical condition need to be sent abroad for advanced treatment quickly, said the students at the press conference.

Alongside the one-time compensation payment, long-term rehabilitation should be made available to all those injured in the violence, they requested.

The educational expenses of injured students should be borne by the government and special considerations should be given to the injured students in examinations, they added.
