Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, the finance adviser in the interim government, has announced that the Tk5, Tk10 and Tk20 banknotes will be gradually replaced, as these notes have become significantly worn out.
Salehuddin, also the commerce adviser, urged the public to handle currency with care during a press briefing at the Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
The adviser mentioned that a meeting might be held at the end of this month or the next to review the budget for the current fiscal year 2024-25.
Additionally, projects under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) included in the budget would be reconsidered in a high-level meeting, he added.
Earlier in the day, the adviser met with officials from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). He informed journalists that the discussion had focused on strategies to increase exports.
