Adani power supply fully resumes as both units start production

Adani Power’s second unit, which was shut down due to technical issues, returned to production on Sunday night.

Following the resumption, the power company is back to power generation to total capacity through both units.

The unit was shut down on August 13 due to a technical issue. As a result, Adani provided maximum power through the first unit.

On Tuesday, the first unit supplied a record 513.32MW and the second unit 668.57MW at 8am.

Around 1pm, the first unit recorded 593.35MW and the second unit 763.94MW.

Following the closure of the second unit, Adani maintained the standard communications protocol with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and the Power Grid Company Bangladesh (PGCB).

Adani issued a statement on Sunday and apologized for the unexpected technical glitch.

The statement says: “Such untoward incidents can happen in the operation of power plants of any domestic or international company like Adani. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We hope to be able to return to full power generation soon.”

After that, on Sunday morning, the electricity supply resumed in Bangladesh in two units.

Meanwhile, the recent amendments to the Electricity Act in India will have no effect on the electricity supply agreement between the two countries.

Adani is contractually committed to uninterrupted power supply. Adani is providing electricity even though it owes about $800 million.
