Dhaka-Sylhet train services resume after two days

Train services on the Dhaka-Sylhet route will resume Saturday, after being suspended for two days.

The Bangladesh Railway made this announcement as the flood situation in the Sylhet region has improved slightly.

Bangladesh Railway Director (Public Relations) Md Nahid Hasan Khan announced the resumption late Friday night.

“The first train, Joyontika Express, will depart from Dhaka towards Sylhet at 11:15am Saturday. Additionally, Kalni Express (773), Upoban Express (739/740), and Surma Mail No 10 will also operate. Tickets for these trains have been available online since last night."

Earlier, on August 21, train services on this route were suspended due to excessive rainfall and rising water levels in the Khowai River.
