Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered a huge amount of money, including local and foreign currencies worth around Tk3.11 crore, from the house of a former senior secretary on Babar Road in the capital's Mohammadpur area on Friday.
The DMP informed the matter through a text message around 7:30pm.
Based on a tip off, the DMP conducted a raid and recovered the money from house no. 29/2 and 29/3, Block F, Babar Road in Mohammadpur, according to the message.
From the house, cash of over Tk3.1 crore, prize bonds worth Tk74,400 and foreign currency worth over Tk10 lakh were recovered.
Among these foreign currencies, 3,000 US dollars, 1,320 Malaysian ringgit, 2,969 Saudi riyals, 4,122 Singapore dollars, 1,915 Australian dollars, 35,000 Korean yuan and 199 Chinese yuan were found.
Kamal was a former senior secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
