Mamunul: President now leading Bangladesh, army will help him

Mamunul Haque, secretary general of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, has said the country’s head is now President Mohammed Shahabuddin and he will be assisted by the Bangladesh Army.

He made the statement to journalists around 9:15pm after coming out of Bangabhaban on Monday.

Mamunul Haque further mentioned that the parliament has not yet been dissolved.

The president will address the nation on Monday, where he will speak about the dissolution of the parliament and other overall matters.

On the other hand, Senior Nayeb-e-Amir of Islami Andolan Faizul Karim said that an interim government's head would be proposed, someone who will be acceptable to most people.

He mentioned that everyone participating in the meeting has agreed on forming an interim government. However, detailed discussions have not taken place regarding the number of members this government will have.

Additionally, he mentioned that the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was also discussed in the meeting.

Faizul Karim said the president stated that she would be released. Discussions also took place about the unconditional release of individuals who have been arrested since July 1.
