Thirteen police officers were killed in an attack on Enayetpur police station in Sirajganj during an ongoing non-cooperation movement on Sunday, the police headquarters confirmed.
According to police sources, some individuals attacked the police station in the afternoon. They entered the station, committed acts of vandalism and set fires.
They also beat 13 on-duty police officers to death. However, their identities remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the public relations division of the police headquarters said terrorists had attacked several police stations across the country, including Jatrabari and Khilgaon police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Gorai highway police station in Tangail, Sherpur police station in Bogra, Joypurhat Sadar police station in Joypurhat, Eliotganj highway police station in Comilla, Ashuganj police station in Brahmanbaria, and Shahjadpur police station in Sirajganj, as well as the offices of the superintendents of police in Narayanganj, Bogra, Pabna and Sirajganj.
The police headquarters also reported that over 300 officers had been injured.
