During the clash in the Police Line area, police were seen firing blanks towards the students.

However, the general students blamed Chhatra League for the incident.

Hasanur Rahman, a student, alleged that Chhatra League launched an unprovoked attack with weapons and bullets on their peaceful protest program.

According to sources, as per the pre-announced program, the protesters gathered in front of the Comilla District School at 11am and started demonstrating.

Many were seen holding sticks, balloons, and spoons.

On the other hand, Chhatra League leaders and activists were positioned at Kandirpar Liberty intersection and Pubali Square areas.

After a while, Chhatra League and the police chased away the protesters who had gathered again at the Police Line intersection.

Around 1pm, a group of youths attacked the students again with a procession from Kandirpar Mor. They had guns and weapons during the attack.

During the attack, the general students ran in all directions. At this time, two people were shot and several others were injured.

The injured have been admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital, but their identities were not immediately known.

Nur Mohammad Sohel, president of the metropolitan Chhatra League, said that Jamaat-Shibir is leading this movement under the guise of general students, so the peace-loving students resisted them.

He denied the allegations of shooting during the procession.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ashfaquzzaman said that the police safely moved the general students and did not attack anyone.
