Palak publicly apologises to protesting students

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has publicly apologised to the nation for his failure to ensure uninterrupted internet connection and prevent the spread of rumours on social media.

Palak made the apology while speaking at a discussion marking National Mourning Day at his residence in Natore on Friday afternoon.

“I am shouldering all responsibilities for my failure to ensure uninterrupted internet connection and to prevent rumours on social media. I promise to accept any decision that comes from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for my failure,” he said.

The country experienced a nationwide internet blackout from July 18 to July 25, with the mobile network being restored even later on July 28. Meanwhile, Facebook was fully restored on Thursday.
