Quota movement: 6 bodies, including journo, taken to DMCH

Six bodies, including that of a journalist, are currently at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital following clashes between quota reform protesters and police in Dhaka.

Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the development on Thursday.

He said that the bodies of the six deceased are currently kept in the DMCH morgue.

With the latest development, Thursday's death toll crosses 18 across country.

Among the deceased is Mehedi Hasan, 28, a staff reporter for Dhaka Times.

Locals said that Mehedi was working on news coverage near Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari.

Another man, Nazmul, 28, died with injuries suffered during a clash between students and protesters in the Kadamtali area of the capital.

Two more deceased were identified as a shopkeeper from Shonir Akhra named Wasim, 30, and Mohammad Ali, 18, from Azimpur.

Additionally, Imran, 22, who was injured in clashes at Shonir Akhra on Wednesday, passed away while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) at DMCH.

Earlier on the day, a rickshaw puller was pronounced dead at the hospital after being rushed there with injuries suffered during a clash between protesters and poilice in the Jatrabari area.
