The vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Aricha highway was suspended for two hours on Tuesday a blockade of the students, protesting for quota reformation.
Thousands of students blocked the highway in front of Jahangirnagar University (JU).
After about two hours, the blockade was lifted and traffic returned to normal.
Around 3:30pm, students started blocking the highway.
During this time, students of nearby private universities, colleges, and schools of Savar stood with the university students.
During this time, they took positions at various campus gates including Dairy Gate, Prantik Gate, and Bishmile.
Earlier, students from various educational institutions of Savar started gathering at various points of the university today around 1:30pm.
Students of Savar Public University, Savar Model College, Daffodil International University, JU School and College, Savar Laboratory College, BPATC School and College came to the campus and started a protest march.
Around 5000 students occupied different places on Dhaka-Aricha highway.
The students finally lifted the blockade around 5:30pm.
However, the situation was calm even though the presence of police was seen at various points of the campus.
