Students suspend Bangla Blockade in Science Lab

The protesting students have announced to suspend the Bangla Blockade program in the capital’s Science Lab after they failed to block the area due to police presence.

Nazmul Hasan, coordinator of the Dhaka College chapter of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the end of the Science Lab program for Thursday.

He made the announcement around 5pm.

According to the previous announcement, the Bangla Blockade program was scheduled to be observed at the Science Lab intersection from 3:30pm on Thursday.

However, the students came to the Science Lab intersection with a procession at 4:20pm.

Failing to block Science Lab, the students tried to block the Neelkhet intersection and later the road near Dhaka College.

Compared to previous days, more police officers were present on the road on Thursday.

The members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have been seen deployed at various points in the capital to prevent the Bangla Blockade announced by the anti-quota protesters.

The protesters announced that the blockade would start at 3:30pm on Thursday.

Police have prepared barricades at Victory Square, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Gulistan, Science Lab, Nilkhet, and Agargaon roads since midday.
