ASP sent on compulsory retirement for extortion, blackmail

An assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Sarda Police Academy has been sent to compulsory retirement for extorting money by taking objectionable photos of men and women together. 

The accused is Yakub Hossain. He formed an organized gang with five policemen for this purpose

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification ordering his compulsory retirement on Sunday.

According to the circular, ASP Yakub Hossain was in charge of Mirpur Circle in Kushtia district in 2019. 

At that time, former SI Jiban Biswas, Constable Al Amin, Constable Md Abdus Sabur, Constable Samiul, Constable Rana and Constable Anik formed a team to benefit from this work financially.

On January 19, 2019, SI Jiban Biswas and other policemen suddenly went to the house of the commissioner of Mosharrafpur Ward No 3 of Mirpur Municipality as per plan. 

Two men were found staying with a woman there. 

The policemen then handcuffed them, beat them up, and took pictures of them half-naked, accusing them of doing illegal things. Later, he released them after taking Tk100,000.

The two men then filed a complaint, leading to the investigation that found ASP Yakub guilty.
