The government has kept the existing minimum tax structure for people with taxable income in the three city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong unchanged for FY25.
The minimum tax applicable for taxpayers other than company taxpayers under Dhaka North, Dhaka South and Chittagong city corporations is Tk5,000.
For those under other city corporations, it is Tk4,000, whereas for those outside city corporations, it is Tk3,000.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali unveiled Tk797,000 crore (Tk7.97 trillion) national budget for the FY25 at the National Parliament on Thursday.
This will be the country's 53rd budget and the 25th of the Awami League government in six terms. This budget will also be the 21st under the rule of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in different terms.
Tajuddin Ahmad presented the country's first budget as finance minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu government in 1972.
This budget for FY25 will be the maiden budget of incumbent Finance Minister Mahmood Ali.
