48-hr heat alert issued for Dhaka west, 3 divisions

The prevailing heatwave over the western part of Dhaka division, Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions may continue for the next 48 hours, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

BMD issued the heatwave alert at 6pm on Friday.

Due to the increase of moisture incursion, the discomfort may continue.

Previously, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday issued heatwave alert message for five divisions for the next 48 hours commencing from 6pm on that day.

This announcement follows earlier alerts issued on April 19, April 22, and April 25, April 28, April 30, May 3 as the BMD continues to monitor and respond to the challenging weather patterns affecting the region.

During the next 72 hours, rain with gusty winds or thundershowers may occur temporarily at a couple of places in Sylhet division. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country during this time.

Apart from this, the extended five-day weather forecast says that rain may occur towards the end of this period.
