Renowned book cover designer Dhruba Esh has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) due to a lung infection on Saturday.
The news of his hospitalization was confirmed by BSMMU Preventive Cardiology Department Prof Dr Md Harisul Hoque. His treatment started under his supervision on Saturday afternoon.
Dr Harisul Hoque said: "We have started his treatment. We have conducted some important tests. The reports will come on Sunday morning. Then we will know how much danger he is out of danger."
Previously, Dhruba Esh was treated at Health and Hope Hospital on Panthapath.
Health and Hope Hospital Chairman MH Choudhury Lelin said: "Since Dhruba Esh's lungs are infected, we advised him to seek treatment in the relevant department at BSMMU hospital."
Dhruba Esh felt unwell from Wednesday night. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday morning. Due to increasing breathing difficulties while under treatment, he was transferred from a cabin to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dhruba Esh is a prominent artist in the country. His contributions to the publishing industry are significant. He brought a novelty to book covers. He designed the covers for most of Humayun Ahmed's books. He is also well-known as an author and has received the Bangla Academy Award.
