Ready-to-cook fish to be sold at 16 points in Dhaka

The government has taken an initiative to sell ready-to-cook fish in the capital.

The fish will be available at 16 places from Thursday.

The initiative has been taken to make cooking easier for working women.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister M Abdur Rahman inaugurated the “BFDC Ready-to-Cook Fish" marketing program organized by the Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) on Wednesday.

A press release sent by the ministry informed that women are engaged in various professions as a result of various initiatives of the government. Hence, BFDC Ready Fish is expected to be very effective in making their life easier.

The release further said that this fish will be sold permanently at three locations in addition to 16 ocations.

They are the fisheries of BFDC Bhaban located in Karwan Bazar, Jatrabari Fish Landing Centre and Chittagong Fisheries Port.

Fish can be found in 16 places in Dhaka

The places are – Mohakhali DOHS, Road No 27 of Navy Headquarters and Gulshan (adjacent to Azad Masjid), Secretariat South Gate, Mirpur DOHS of  Mirpur, Sapna Nagar Residential Area, Cantonment, Mirpur Aparajita Bhabhan of Mirpur, Dhanmondi 6, Azimpur Colony of Azimpur, Ladies Club of Iskaton, Secretary Quarter of Iskaton (Wednesday and Saturday), ACC Office of Segunbagicha, AGB Colony of Motijheel, Shankar of Dhanmondi, Sechbhavan of Manik Mia Avenue (Friday and Saturday), Dhanmondi 28, and Mohammadpur Ma o Shishu Hospital adjacent to Hospital, Mohammadpur.

After the inauguration, the minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave directions for the preparation, marketing and market expansion of ready-to-cook fish to make cooking easier for working women.

For that BFDC has undertaken ready-to-cook fish preparation and marketing activities.

This program will play an important role in building Smart Bangladesh, said the minister.

He further said that one of the major challenges in ready-to-cook fish is to maintain the taste and nutritional quality.

However, he commented that the fish that will be sold as ready to cook from BFDC is of high quality.

“Although we are the third in the world in fish production, there is a lot of demand for ready-to-cook fish in the local and international markets,” said Abdur Rahman.

He urged the concerned to find out what type of fish is in demand in the foreign market for ready-to-cook fish.
