Fabia Bursha, daughter of the deceased Lt Col Lutfur Rahman, who was killed in the Pilkhana carnage, told media that many people involved in the incident had been arrested; however, the verdicts of the trials have not been carried out yet, and no one has been executed.
She further said: "There must have been many powerful forces behind such a big massacre. Why have not the names of those forces come to light yet?"
She made the remarks after paying tribute at her father's grave in the military cemetery in Banani, Dhaka, on Sunday.
Fabia Bursha said: "Those who fired rounds from the field were supported by some people. We want to know who they are. We do not know if we can find out in our lifetime. We want to see justice served in our lifetime and also want to know who was behind this massacre."
Referring to intelligence forces’ failures, she added: "We believe there was intelligence failure behind the Pilkhana massacre because this massacre was planned over many days. However, it is sad that even after 15 years, we have not been able to find out who was behind this. We hope the truth will eventually come out."
On February 25, 2009, a tragic and brutal event occurred at the BDR (now BGB) headquarters in Pilkhana and various other places across the country.
Some members were brutally massacred, including the then director general of BDR, Major General Shakil Ahmed, along with 57 army officers.
During the two days (February 25-26), the then BDR army officers, serving at different levels, were subjected to cruel and inhuman treatment. Their family members were detained and tortured at their homes. During this period, 17 more people, including women and children, were brutally killed.
