The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has claimed that no such incident of tearing off students' OMR (answer) sheets took place during the MBBS admission test held on February 9.
The complaint of a student named Humaira Islam Chowa tearing off her OMR sheet in the medical admission test was false and fabricated, said Professor Dr Titu Miah, director general of the DGME.
He presented a report submitted by the probe committee, at a press conference on Monday.
The probe committee was formed on February 13 following the complaint.
Later, the committee visited the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. No one made the complaint except Humaira Islam, said the DGME DG.
Therefore, taking everything into consideration, the committee assured that the allegations are completely false, fabricated and deliberate, said Titu Miah.
MBBS admission tests were held on February 9 for the 2023–24 academic session.
Two days later, the medical aspirant Humaira Islam filed a complaint with the directorate.
In her complaint, she said a candidate next to her was cheating using a digital device in room no 823 of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Forty minutes into the one-hour test, a female invigilator caught the student using the device and tore her OMR sheet.
She also tore Humaira’s sheet, suspecting that she too was adopting unfair means, she added in the complaint.
Fifteen minutes later, the invigilator realized her mistake and issued Humaira a new answer sheet with only five minutes remaining. She was not given a time extension despite repeated requests.
Humaira’s family went to DGHS on February 11 and complained to the health minister.
