Four Chhatra League activists have been suspended in connection with clashes between two groups in the presence of Central General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
Chhatra League made the decision in an urgent meeting of the central executive parliament on Tuesday.
A circular signed by Central Chhatra League Office Secretary Miftahul Islam Panth confirmed the information.
In presence of the general secretary and senior leaders of the Central Chhatra League, the incident occurred in two phases at about 1pm on Tuesday in the university's Madhur canteen.
Both sides are known as followers of General Secretary Sheikh Inan.
As per the circular, Chhatra League activists Mashfiur Rahman, Firuz Alam Opi, Abdullah Al Maruf and Nijhum Iftar of Bijoy Ekattor Hall were suspended from Chhatra League for indulging in activities against the organization's discipline and dignity.
According to witnesses, when Sheikh Inan came to Madhur canteen, a clash took place between the leaders and activists of Surjo Sen Hall and Bijoy Ekattor Hall Chhatra League regarding greeting him.
Activists of Bijoy Ekattor hall came out and stood ready with stumps and hockey sticks. As soon as the activists of Surjo Sen Hall came out of the canteen, Abdallah Al Maruf, Firuz Alam Opi, Mashfiur Rahman, Fazle Naveed Anon, Nijhum Iftar, among others, jumped into the clash.
After several senior central leaders intervened and stopped the rampage, Kamrul, who was severely wounded, was taken to the medical centre.
