Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Monday visited the Department of Environment (DoE) on metro rail.
He boarded the metro rail from the station near Bangladesh Secretariat at 11:30am and got down at Agargaon metro station.
While traveling on the metro rail, the environment minister talked to the passengers and urged the people to use environment-friendly public transport. He said that people's participation is essential to protect the environment.
The air pollution situation will improve if the transport owners conduct environment-friendly transport and the public uses environment-friendly vehicles, he added.
After visiting the Department of Environment, he exchanged views with the Director General of the Department of Environment Dr Abdul Hamid.
During this time, he directed the officials to take effective steps to protect the environment and provide hassle-free services to the people.
