Bahar: Break arms and legs of BNP activists if found campaigning

Awami League candidate AKM Bahauddin Bahar, contesting in the Comilla-6 (Sadar) Constituency, warned that if BNP-Jamaat activists are found campaigning in the 12th national parliamentary election, their arms and legs should be broken.

A video of his speech has circulated widely on social media.

This statement was made during a meeting held at the residence of Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan, a freedom fighter from Jagannathpur Union No. 6 in Comilla Sadar, on Monday afternoon.

MP Bahar said: "BNP did not participate in the election because it knew it would lose. If BNP-Jamaat activists are found supporting any candidate, you should break their arms and legs. I am with you. There is no reason to fear."

He added: "In the last 15 years, every school, college, madrasa, mosque, and temple in Comilla has not seen such remarkable development. I am surprised myself at the recent extent of progress."

Campaigning for the 12th national election will continue until 8am on January 5, with voting scheduled for January 7.
