Cox's Bazar Express was launched on Dhaka-Cox's Bazar railway on Friday.
The Ministry of Railways had prepared the inauguration of the Cox's Bazar Express train from Dhaka and Cox's Bazar.
The Cox's Bazar Express was inaugurated on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar railway from Cox's Bazar Railway Station at around 12:30pm on Friday, said Cox's Bazar railway station master Md Golam Rabbani.
Most passengers who arrived from various parts of the country were not there for work-related reasons, but solely to catch the first train from Cox's Bazar.
Secretary to the Ministry of Railways Md Humayun Kabir attended the opening ceremony in Cox's Bazar as the chief guest.
The train will also be launched from Dhaka's Kamalapur railway station at around 10pm on the same day.
At that time, Director General of Bangladesh Railway Kamrul Ahsan will exchange greetings with the passengers going to Cox's Bazar.
According to railway sources, the Cox's Bazar Express will leave Dhaka's Kamalapur station around 10:30pm on Friday. It will reach Chittagong at 3:40pm. The train will leave for Cox's Bazar around 4pm with a 20-minute break. It will reach Cox's Bazar at 6:40am. That means it will take 8 hours and 10 minutes to go from the capital to the tourist town.
On the other hand, the train from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka will leave at 12:40pm. This train will arrive at Chittagong at 3:40pm and it will reach Dhaka at 9:10pm.
SM Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Government Railway Police (GRP) at the Chittagong station, said that 10 railway policemen will be deployed for the safety of passengers in the train.
Cox's Bazar railway station master Md Golam Rabbani said that all preparations have been made for the movement of commercial trains from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka on Friday.
The fare for Shovon Chair from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar is Tk695. The fare for AC Chair is Tk1,325, AC Seat Tk1,590 and AC Berth (sleeping seat) Tk2,380.
From Chittagong to Cox's Bazar, the fare for the Shovon Chair is Tk205, Snigdha Class Tk386, AC Seat Tk466 and AC Berth Tk696.
