Family members embarrassed
In recent gossip that has been circulating, Prabir Mitra's son Mithun Chand said: "My father has not converted to another religion. I have no idea where this gossip is coming from. Several people have called me to inquire about it. We are quite upset about this matter. I do not know who is spreading these rumours or how they are spreading."
Earlier, Mithun had also mentioned in the media that false information is often spread on Facebook, causing confusion.
Prabir Mitra's wife was Muslim
According to reports in the media, Prabir Mitra's wife, Ajanta Mitra, was a follower of Islam. She passed away in 2000, and Prabir Mitra never converted to another religion.
Regarding the recent rumours, Mithun said: "My mother was Muslim, but my father continues to follow his traditional religion. Those who are spreading such news are not doing the right thing. It is not appropriate to tarnish the reputation of an actor like my father. I request everyone not to spread any information without verifying it."
